Bahamas

The Bahamas are in the Caribbean, a chain of islands in the North Atlantic Ocean, southeast of Florida, northeast of Cuba.

The sunny, beach-bejewelled Bahamas (from "baja mar," shallow seas) southeast of Florida consist of more than 700 islands-several thousand more-and 2500 cays, many of which are quite unspoiled. The islands' hospitality as well as its waters are warm and welcoming, with world-class accommodations and leisure facilities with great opportunities for scuba diving and snorkelling.

  Bahamas Overview
Weather

The subtropical climate features frequent thunderstorms June to November, sometimes becoming hurricanes of considerable power. In 1992, Hurricane Andrew killed four and caused very pricey damage. The good news is that residents know how to prepare themselves warning systems operate: you won't be caught unawares. The proximity to continental North American cold air keeps the Bahamas slightly cooler than other islands in the region.

What to Wear

Wear lightweight cottons whenever you intend to be there. You can easily purchase a raincoat if need be.
