Jordan

Jordan is in the Middle East, northwest of Saudi Arabia. Jordan is a must-see country for two of the most spectacular sights in the Middle East-Petra, the ancient city of the Nabateans, one of the world's most startling ruins, and the amazing desert scenery of Wadi Rum, which Lawrence of Arabia loved. It is also peaceful and very welcoming: it will restore your faith in human nature to meet the locals.

  Jordan Overview
Weather

The Jordan Valley lies below sea level-so it's warm in winter and hot in summer. November - March is the rainy season, colder in December and January. The summer is hot and dry, with cool evenings. Visit in spring or early autumn.

What to Wear

Light clothing is necessary between May and September, when temperatures easily range between 40 and 50 degrees C. The west is Mediterranean (narrow Israel lies between Jordan and the Mediterranean). Pack warmer clothes for winter, and your umbrella November to April.
